wC, here are a few more Pianta pix from my archives....

First picture is Hannibal and Rose.

2nd, Hannibal and some of the crew in the 300 Fred Rd studio.

last picture is Hannibal and his float.
Way back when, San Antonio had what was called a Trade Day Parade.
Can anyone identify the building in the back of the float??

OK...this is killing me. I can see that awning in my mind, but I can't place it.

Don't tell us yet!

I want to know more about Battersby. I've been drooling over his web site this evening. Such incredible talent......to create anything on paper and then make it three dimensional is genius in my mind. I almost fell off my chair reading about the bronze and ornamental plaster niche being removed for a popcorn stand! Thank goodness there were photos and they saved the statue. What an incredible feat to recreate that. I want to say it looks even better than the original. No slight to Pianti ....of course its hard to compare color to B&W....but WOW! Simply amazing.

So Mud....do you know Battersby personally? Have you worked with him? I love the narration on his web site. You can tell he's very proud of his work....but he allows it to speak for itself. That is a humble artisan. I'm in total awe.

BTW - my sentence above should say "I exchanged some very interesting emails with Battersby." As in the past tense....it's been about 6-7 years ago. Looking at his web site, I'm like a kid in a candy store seeing all the projects that have taken place in the past few years.

Question....do you know if Tom Battersby is going to be doing any restoration work on the Governor's mansion in Austin?

Don't think so 56.

Question 1 - I know all the Battersbys wC.

2 - Sometimes mud gets high with battersby.

3 - Remainns to be seen.
Plumbers, Electricians, and Arsonists
are the three primary causes of the need for plaster restoration.

4 - I don't have a clue

Was there an Octavia Battersby who attended St. Leo's Church. Is the street next to it named in her honor? Octavia.

O.K. You work with them in high places. I've seen photos of old businesses built right along the river banks. Have no idea how to find them again. Must have had his new bldg. saw 300 Fred address on float. Household on bench. Big Saloon sign in left window. Dutch powder sign. This is fun mud!! Really nice photo! Thanks. Mr. B I presume.

Honestly! Do you ask everyone for proof of lineage? I'm with wCat, Mud, I don't need paperwork. I find your postings quite interesting.
