We drove down to San Antonio last weekend from IN. TX is HUGEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!
San Antonio was absolutely beautiful!!!
Unfortunately, it is way too much city for us so we have crossed it off our list. The hugeness of the city and the highway was rather intimidating!
Don't think we can live there but will definitely visit it again in the future....again, a very, very beautiful city!

Smile What partsof SA

I'm curious what part of SA you were at? The outskirts are nothing like SA as far as too much city.

San Antonio was that huge to you? Are you from a town of less the 100,000 or something? You must have hated driving through the DFW area on the way in, then.

I think they are talking about SA in terms of area. San Antonio is much larger in area than your average city. Hell we're even larger in area then L.A. city, NYC.

"Unfortunately, it is way too much city for us so we have crossed it off our list"

Have you considered looking in towns such as
Lytle, Bandera, Helotes, Devine, Hondo, D'Hanis, Florresville, Sequin, St Hedwig.

These are areas outside of SA all less then an hour away from downtown. Most of these have the small town mentality with them.

Helotes is nice, but too close to San Antonio. All the other cities/towns are located further away.

Throw in castroville to that list which is probably the closest feeling "small" town near dt sa. Yet its still isolated...

Also If i were you i would NOT feel intimidated by the road systems..>SA is lucky enough to have a very efficient travel system and you can pretty much get from any one point in the city to the other in less than an hour at anytime..atleast i know i can ...But seriously there are many parts in the city where you really don't even need to travel more than 5 miles or so...and you can be near a hospital/movies/resturants/hotels...The airport is pretty centrally located if you move into the north. Not to mention the city has a ton of parks...and if you moved in the northern areas there would be some really nice parks where you feel really isolated on the trails...you won't hear highways or anything..just the once in a while...small plain...It's nice if you have questions let me know!!

"TX is HUGEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

Texas is indeed very big and so is San Antonio, but it's a great deal smaller than Los Angeles, San Diego, New York or Houston. It just seems that way because it's spread out and you're coming from IN. It is very pretty in the River Walk area and the older sections on the north side, but what I've seen from the highway, is entirely too trashy compared to other Texas cities. Although spread out, unless its peak traffic time, you can usually get from one side of the city to the other fairly easily, (unless you live on the north or west side). If you're looking anywhere in Texas for something around the middle and nice, try: Odessa, Waco, Tyler, Bryan, Corpus Christi or Harlingen.

S.A. has good and bad just like any other place, but I certainly like it and it has wonderful history.
