I would like that it has to do with a lower cost of living here. Who knows though. I think SA gave a lot for the Hurricanes and I know i can't list it all on my tax form.

San Antonio is actually one of the most charitable cities in the country.

Neddy,
I'd have to agree with you. I typically never give but for Katrina I went out of my way to give.

Roughly, only 25 percent of taxpayers itemize (where charity is deducted), so I guess 25 percent of people in San Antonio are really stingy. And, of course, this is only people who use TurboTax to file their income tax.

Salt Lake City is largely Mormon and they tithe 10% of their gross pay so that would raise their numbers. I wonder how much of their money goes to charities (not churches).

It didn't say San Antonio, Texas, for all we know, they could have meant the one in California.

According to what someone puts on their tax form using Turbotax.

The list I saw used actual data from charities to compile their ranking.

Don't take all your stats for granted:

the same group back in 2003 ranked san antonio #8 for most generous... they base this only on an average of how much you donate based on your income tax returns

http://www.imakenews.com/ephilanthro...e000205932.cfm <-- check this out.. notice its turbotax again
