we have a small machine that has to be on 24/7 for medical reasons, I guess we should look into getting a generator in case the power goes off. how much do those generators run?

you could get one of those portable power source at Walmart for about $89. Generators run anywhere from $400 - $4000.

My son's 6th birthday party is this Saturday at our house. Do you think we should postpone?

Poor thing, I remember my birthday was cancelled due to snow in '85.

Yes, you should postpone. It's just going to be an ugly day. Even if we don't take a huge hit...it's still going to be ugly out there.

OMG how could I have forgotten the duct tape. Just don't tape the windows with it. After Alicia some minor hurricane went through and the husband panicked and duct taped the windows-never got the goo off. I think it morphed into cement after the humidity and heat hit it.

Next time, tell him to use gaffer's tape. It's more expensive, but it won't leave residue.
