The problem may be hubby's lack of education. An AD won't get a foot in the door for a decent IT position anywhere.

Austin has a lot more to offer in this area than SA and it's a much nicer place to live.

I have to agree, an Associate's won't compete when there is a huge pool of retired and ex-military who have the same or higher degrees as well as lots of experience, as is the situation in San Antonio. Plus, IT jobs pay less here because of the lower cost of living.

That said, probably one of the best places to job hunt is the military; but USAJobs isn't going to be as lucrative as finding local companies that contract with the government and getting his resume to them. There are numerous ones in SA...SAIC, MacB, Northrop-Grumman, BAE, etc. If he has a resume, feel free to DM me and I will take a look at it and forward it to any contacts I have that may be needing someone with his qualifications. Does he have a security clearance? That would help tremendously.

As for Austin over SA, that is a huge can of worms and I wouldn't say that the job opportunities in IT are any better there than here. It may be more private sector versus government service; but there are loads of IT jobs here if you look in the right places. And as for it being a nicer place to live...well, I like both places a lot; but I feel Austin is more geared towards Yuppies (anyone remember that term?) whereas San Antonio is more laid-back and family-friendly. Plus, SA is a lot cheaper to live in. They are two cities with completely different characteristics, and it should be easy to determine which is more to your liking.

And, just to qualify my remarks, I have a Masters in Info Systems that I got when I was in the military, and I am retired USAF currently working as a government contractor; so I know a little about the topic!

Cheers! M2
