I appreciate the thought. I'm sure we could learn a few things from your group about how to do the event. I've heard that the chair of our Night Out committee plans to chain me to a grill and keep me busy flipping burgers and hot dogs during our event, so I doubt I'll be free to accept.

We are - over 30 Block Parties scheduled for our area and supposedly, radio station Mix96.1 will be out broadcasting from our area (GNW). It ought to be a hoot!

Yeah none in our neighborhood.

Our HOA sucks.

I realize it doesn't have to do with them, but if someone on the board got the ball rolling and sent out flyers for volunteers that would make it easier.

Well, Turtle_Mom, don't lose hope. Our HOA has been decidedly apathetic for years, but this year is actually doing stuff!!! I'm really encouraged by it! One of my favorite of the activities that they've planned is for Monday afternoon. Several people are going to stand at strategic corners throughout the neighborhood with signs reminding drivers of the speed limit!

Just organize your own! I haven't spent a whole lot of time planning mine--it's going to be a rather simple affair. The whole point is to get people out to meet their neighbors and get to know them. Seriously--just make a little flyer and pass it out to your neighbors and have a little party in your driveway. Next year it will be bigger and better once people get started.

I'm glad "they" changed this from August to October recently. It was too hot in August for people in this part of the world to be spending too much time outside.
