Nice post June....with a differing but objective opinion. That's helpful for a civil discourse. I think it just takes time for some people to understand how to word a question so it doesn't invite harsh criticism. Hopefully D will see that his revised version of the question might work better without laying out personal opinions.

MM: Re: whining....I agree that no one likes it, but we differ in that it would be tolerated more in Austin. In general, most people don't like whiners whether they are conservative or liberal. And I feel SA is a bit less "old school" than you paint it....but you're entitled to your opinion. I prefer "laid back"....which implies a choice of lifestyle of less stress and competition, not lack of sophistication or education which is how I characterize "old school".

I wasn't gonna post anymore,
but thanks for the few people that helped clarify things.

I talked to Thegreekpotato a little, and it seems like I would be a "Texas democrat" (you guys know better than me what that means)

My negative views are mainly about the town that I visited next to the army base, they had a lot of problems with crime, drugs, etc, etc.
It's not about the people that serve our country.
FYI, I'm a strong supporter of better benefits to veterans, to the point that I think all veterans should get a free house from the government.

That's it from me, thanks again.
