Wow - I'm glad he pressed that button! Maybe a last effort call for help for his condition. I'm glad everyone is ok....

He did stop himself and fortunately had the Onstar technology at hand to expedite his safety. He was at the wrong place at the right time. Sometimes it just takes a caring voice to calm someone enough to stop what they are doing. Thank goodness there was a way to access that person. The true hero is the person answering the Onstar call.

i agree with you, but calling an onstar dispatcher a hero is a longshot.

The dispatcher may well have saved the lives of quite a number of people by notifying the authorities. To me, that makes him a hero. I would hate to think of the carnage that could have ensued.

they didnt risk their own lives=not hero

now the officers who apprehended the nutty guy with two shotguns and knew what the outcome could be could be considered heroes

How the Onstar person behaves afterwards dictates to me whether he's a hero or not. Like, does he go around bragging about how he averted the bloodbath, and if it wasn't for him there would be so many dead--or does he say, quietly to NO ONE, Thank you God for putting me in a position where I was able to help this poor man who was about to do something terrible. (sorry if that offends any atheists! no harm, no foul!)

It's the ones that go around trying to put feathers in their own caps that are really disturbing. Too bad Onstar can't help there.
