With netbooks like the eeePC and the Dell Inspiron Mini coming into the market, we should see the price on used notebooks drop significantly in the next 6 months.

SYSTEMSRESTORED

This guy is local, works and fixes laptops only. Fixes them for less than half what anyone else quoted me. Better, and put extra software on my son's computer for free. Also has refurbished computers with warranties. Check him out, you won't be sorry.
And I normally do all the computer work in our house, and business, I dont do laptops, or Vista, he did both, and saved my son, a college student, over $250.

this link takes you to a webpage, but the page is just informational, there is no 'clickable' link on the page itself....

I'd like to look into this place, do you have more information or a better link? thx....

PGR , just click on each line--it takes you to a new page but you have to scroll down a bit to see the info! Not the greatest site for a guy who's a techie, but it's better than some I've seen!

i.e. laptop service is a line.

I bought my Dell Laptop and desktop at PC Outlet. I've had the desktop 3 years and have had no problems (knocking on wood), the laptop only about 4 months now and it's seems fine too. I know other people who have bought from them (systems & parts) and have been pleased also.

well selfishly i bought HPTuners for my cars. and I am looking to buy Detroit Diesel and Cummings Interface. So I can tweak and tune my trucks and at the same time I can tune more trucks on the side.

Thanks. I'll look into that. I'm investing alot on tuning software and with the price of a new computer adding to that sum. would leave me with a sore pocket for a few weeks.

You might wait 'til Black Friday (day after Thanksgiving). I saw an article on AOL where some of the Black Friday sales have been leaked. Looks like there will be lots of computers/laptops at $299 or even lower. Not sure of the specs, but might be worth waiting if you can wait.

thanks Sapphire....
yeesh, I had tried that earlier and nothing ever opened. This time, after about three tries, the other links showed up and I had to click on THOSE several times to get them to work.
Thought maybe a battery problem with my wireless mouse, but it works fine everywhere else...
very strange....
but I did get to see the rest of the info..
I have yet another 'referred' guy I"m gonna try next time I need svc and can afford to be without my laptop...
Problem is, I work at home and really can't be without the dang thing, even for a day.
I'm looking to see if I can pick up a sturdy, 'older' laptop that I can copy ALLLL my work stuff onto, so that I CAN be without my main laptop for short time.
The guys I use now, though, hook up with me via TeamViewer and usually get things rerranged pretty quick.
