The area I grew up in is called Highland Hills. For those that don't think we have hills in SA, I'd challenge you to drive down Killarney to Bob Billa. It's very steep!

Also, on the other side of the plateau, there are very steep streets from Fairlawn to the area we called "the woods".

Finally, behind a couple of blocks on Killarney, there's a large dropoff (I don't know how many feet, but it's significant) down to Pecan Valley Golf Course.

Also, the south east side is quite hilly, not as big as the northwest side.

Thanks a lot for posting those pics! Those are the type of hills that I was hoping SA had, but couldn't find pictures of. Those hills looks real similar to the ones I drove through on the Oceanside side of San Diego, if I'm not mistaken. I'm just curious, is it possible to drive that highway (in the last picture, for example) or another road up those hills, or are the hills pretty much only on the sides of the roads? Also, what route are those hills on? Meaning, are they between Helotes and NW SA or are they between SA and a different town?

Does anyone know if there are other links in this forum to scenic hill drive pics around SA or Austin? I saw another pic of a highway down a long hill near SA but I can't find the link.

Take Hwy 16 to Bandera and continue on to Kerville. Nice scenery along the way. Then grab a bite to eat and head back to SA on I10. In all, about a 3 hour trip.

I just rode that route on my motorcycle last weekend. I think it came to about 100 miles total...

Cheers! M2

We went again today (about the 5th time...probably more). Another longer variation is just after Medina (on Hwy 16), turn left on 337 towards Vanderpool. Continue on all the way to Camp Wood then take 55 back to Ulvade then 83 south to 90 and head east back to SA.

We're talking about the city limits here... I know there are hills outside of it.
San Antonio is hilly in the city limits, and moreso in far NW Bexar county and other counties in the metro area. Bandera County S.A. metro

All this talk about hills, yes we have them or no we don't.
Hills are define by the person.
