Really if you contact your insurance company, and his company truck has insurance, TX is a no fault state, the only thing is, you pay your deductible they pay theirs, no tickets, no fault. Either way the points go up, both parties were involved in a moving accident, thats the way the insurance company will look at it. As long as the deductible aint too high, and everybody is ok, then thank God and go on.

Really? When I had a wreck on New Guilbeau, it was not my fault and both of us had insurance--I paid ZERO. She ran a stop sign basically and I T-boned her. I flat out could not help it--there was a huge truck to the right of me and I couldn't see her--she got rammed. So, I think it does make a difference when someone is clearly at fault--as in the case of an intersection--SOMEONE ran a light. When your deductible is $500, yeah, I'd be looking for witnesses, too--if I thought I was not at fault.

Sharing the type of business (florist, paint store, etc.) and some characteristics (make, model, color) associated with the truck would be OK to post, but sharing the name of the company would not be allowed. There's always DM if you want to share more than that.

If the guy ran a red light, wouldn't that be on camera? Almost all the newer signals have those cameras on them.

would be worth the time to go to every business in the area of the accident, because they always have cameras and that's the latest way to bust people.

Sapphire, I agree, when there are circumstances that one can see who is at fault, and also when one of the parties involved accepts responsibility. Unfortunately in this case, that aint the case. I seriously doubt that the driver of the truck would believe anything at this time from anyone, especially since there is nothing on the police report, that is what I meant when I stated, No ticket. If you don't get culpability accepted within the first 24hours of an accident, it normally isnt going to happen. Minor accidents dont warrant major investigation time. The insurance companies view it as we pay for ours, you pay for yours, and they raise both of the drivers rates.

dont listen to RD hes your bad consience I'll be your good one.... first off all. The first couple of days you cant do squat! look over your kids and wife and make shure they are okay. After three days you could swing by the SAPD office on Nueva st. and ask for the police report. Look at the police report. Car number 1 is the cause of the accident. so If that bastard is there then no sweat.

The police when accidents occur they go by word of mouth. but on the second page it will show in the PO's oppinion how the accident occured. and trust me, policemen may seem stupid but they are actually bluffing. and I assure you they look at the scenario and write it on how it looks not on how it said.

a few tips... 99 percent this will go your wives favor. but if you happen to get a call from idiots claiming they can get you 20,000 dollars, dont buy it. yes they can get the money, they are actually medical clinics that refer you to a crappy lawyer that will scam so you would probably end up with a fraction of that! by policies the hit driver is entitled to a minimum settlement, and about 1-5 thousand per passenger. (if he's insured) so what I'd recomend is go strait to a lawyer after you get a police report. or sooner if your wife/kids aint feeling good.

I hope everything goes well for you, and if you will please give me that idiots address after you obtain the report he will get a serious eggin! ohh and be assured I speak from experience. Our city's insipid drivers have made me 25k richer in the past three years!

You can get a copy of the police report at the Culebra substation as well.
Ooops......you can't anymore! But you used to be able to! Now you do have to go to Nueva St. or a Community Link center. They used to be about 2 bucks at the substations.

Not nesseraly, the police officer is not going to let you know if the other driver got a citation or not, you will find that on a police report. These type of arguemts are solved by the insurance companies, but a lawyer speeds things up, so it wouldnt hurt.
