The last I heard about Value-added Tax in Texas was when it was proposed to the Texas legislature last decade. As far as I know it was defeated.

So does it mean that when I shop (online), I just pay the price listed and do not need to add tax? Great!

Value added tax is where each step in the manufacturing process pays a tax for the "value added" to the good. And guess who pays for all of this? You, the consumer. Texas has a sales tax and not a VAT.

You will pay sales tax on an item bought online if the retailer has a store somewhere in the state of Texas. San Antonio sales tax is at 8.15 percent still I think. The cap is 8.25
