I love San Antonio and Seguin, TX

I sick and tired of all the people bashing San Antonio. I'm picking up the old "Don't Mess with Texas" message and bringing it over here. We have a beautiful riverwalk, the Alamo, the history, a great downtown business district. And most of the new comers are fitting in just fine.

Leave our beautiful city alone. Don't try and make it something else. If you do, it is no longer San Antonio. Appreciate what you have. And most of the country is going h*** in hand handbasket while San Antonio and the rest of Texas is doing just fine.

I Heart San Antonio

AACIS - Datacenter Home (http://www.aacis.info/index.jsp - broken link)

Do the research. I think we are far from the "best damn city" in the NATION.

Don't have to....I KNOW what I enjoy daily, I KNOW where I belong and I KNOW where I am happy...and this is it!!

Have lived in other places around the world, and while I still LIVE to travel and explore, there is nowhere I can live the life I have and enjoy culture I do over San Antonio!

I am thinking in broader terms than what makes individuals happy. I am basing my comment on comparing San Antonio to the basic "American Dream".

For instance:
high school graduation rates
the number of college aged citizens vs the number whom are currently enrolled in college
the number of persons/households earning the American household average income
the amount of leisure time per average household
health
the average age
employment opportunities
etc.

WEll, I suppose since YOU have the right and power to be whatever you want in life...SA fits us just fine. Being professionals, making good money, being retired military, and having everything we want at our fingertips here in SA, why WOULD I want to live in a higher cost of living area?????

We have lived in Japan, Hawaii, and other very high cost of living areas....but prefer here in SA where our money goes MUCH further and we can travel several times a year. If you have an education, good job, make good money SA IS the American Dream place!

Why is it some people just have to constantly point out negativities? The point of the thread is that some of us like it here, good and bad. So that's it! Take your SA bashing somewhere else.

Is this your own personal website? If so, wouldn't that be advertising? (EDIT - Ok, looks like a community website...)

And I saw nothing on this site that shows that San Antonio is so bad. I chose my zip code and discovered three things. 1) There were 7 utility assistance calls in 2005, supposedly being a Poverty indicator. 2) The number of child abuse cases by year for 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004. (5,3,5,2 respectively.) 3) Some birth statistics from 2002-2005. Maybe there is more data for other zip codes - but it is an Alamo area Informational website - there is nothing that compares those raw numbers to other cities.

And the Crime section is flawed. It only covers the smaller counties that are surrounding San Antonio. Of course Bexar has higher crime compared to counties with much smaller populations. But compare SA to Houston - there you will see we are much better.

It gives some raw stats, but doesn't show overall picture or comparisons with other large cities.
