Actually, that's La Fiesta, which is a different company.

This store is the Largest store they have built to date.

As the new store opens, the company will close its smaller store nearby at 20760 US 281 North.
The new H-E-B Plus is the fourth new store that the grocery giant has opened in San Antonio this year.

Like I said previously, drive outside of SA and find another HEB, you'll see the difference. I'm not quoting stats from here or there, I'm a living example telling you that the pricing and product mix is worse here than in Houston (not sure of other areas). Believe me or not, but HEB is not treating you right. Next time you're in Houston, go to an HEB and look at their prices and products. It won't take you long to see the difference.

Get those "stats" all you want. It's the real life, everyday items that matter. Just MHO.

I'm almost willing to stipulate this fact because it is beside the point. That point being that it was asserted the HEB, as the 800-pound gorilla in this market, was somehow gouging local consumers. My assertion is that if that were indeed true, grocery prices here would be relatively high compared to other cities (or at least on par), when in fact, it's the opposite-- grocery prices here are relatively low, among the lowest in the country. For those of you who want to whine about HEB and proclaim that your milk and eggs cost more at HEB than _____, fine, I get that, and I'll file it under the "your mileage may vary" caveat. But my assertion stands: if HEB were really taking advantage of their dominance in this market, it would be reflected in higher overall grocery prices here, and independent statistics show that to not be the case.

Furthermore, since personal experience is being bandied-about, I will tell you that in my own personal experience, in this market, HEB is cheaper and has more variety than Wal-Mart, Target, or La Fiesta.

BTW, 713 to 210, which HEB do you shop at anyway that you're using for these comparisons?

This is my point, I'm comparing other markets to the SA HEBs. I'm not looking within SA. If you don't leave the city you don't know what you're missing.

The bulk of my shopping was at the Sugar Land HEB.
