Do any of the places mentioned have ONLY Men Barbers?
And mostly Men as Customers?

As I said in my original post - - he doesn't like going to places where females are cutting the hair and female customers are sitting in chairs next to him.

I believe the Leon Valley Barber Shop on Grissom on the NW side does have a female Barber.

So, you're welcome, and then, ooops sorry! Please accept my sincere apologies for recommending Leon Valley to you. I hope one of the other places works out for your Dad!

I'm sorry if my post sounded unappreciative.
I didn't intend to do that...
I really do appreciate all the helpful suggestions and I have to agree it does sound sexist. No doubt about it
But whataya gonna do with an old guy in his mid 70s that is set in his ways and hard-headed.

I'm just trying to find a way to get him to stop cutting his own hair and right now he's using the excuse that there are no Barbershops around that he likes. I guess he's trying to live in the past.

Wish me luck...

Victor's Barber Shop on Nacogdoches just north of I-410 on the right hand side, in the same shopping center as Sprouts and Sir Winston's. Got to go up the stairs to get to his store front.

$11 with tip. He has two chairs, and it is just him. Older folks come in and just talk. Cash or check only I believe.

I recommend Ken's Barber Shop. It is located in an older shopping center at the intersection of Austin Highway and Lanark. This is an old school barber shop with straight razors, hot foam and the red, white, and blue twirling barber post. Ask for either Ken or Baltimore.

There's one on Walzem in the strip next to auto zone. I go there occasionally cause it smells like an old school barbershop should smell like and not a salon. Men waiting in chairs either reading magazines or watching the bigscreen TV they have. They just don't give lollipops to kids anymore like they used to many moons ago when they would take me. If you're lucky the owner himself will cut your hair and crack you up with his jokes. Very pleasant environment and not pricey.

As mentioned, Cadillac Barbershop at Cadillac+Blanco (near Bitters) or Brookhollow barbershop ' 281@Brookhollow. $12-$13 cash only. They have male and female barbers but clientele is all male. Both are traditional, manly, barbershops.

Try Guzmans Barber Shop
414 N Gen McMullen Suite 107
Only females you'll see there are the ones that brought there kids for a cut. Barbers that do more than just clipper cuts. A place for men of all ages honestly.
