Should be some good studies that come from this drought event. Perhaps central texas was in the dead zone between landfalling tropical systems? Perhaps the typical fall fronts didn't penetrate as far south as they usually do?

This might be a good conclusion.

This one not so great. S. Fl and most of the East are having a very cold winter.

We are getting the fronts they are just dry.

Perhaps I should have said "fronts with **upper level support** are occuring less frequently than average". Or perhaps it's more of what you said...the fronts are coming so often that the atmosphere stays dry because the gulf air doesn't get a chance to return before the next fropa.

Just looked up the november climate report. SAT was 3.7 degrees above average. Not sure if SAT would be 4 above average if we were getting lots of fronts. The reason the east has been cold is because they've been under the influence of a trough - which means a ridge for us. Yes, when Florida gets a front, we'll get one here too, but the upper level support has been to the east - which means more cold air and precip for our eastern neighbors.
