I spent NYE at my parents' house and you would never have known there was a ban with all the fireworks that went off at midnight in their neighborhood.

I loved it!

how many of you all called the cops when you heard fireworks????...... you couldnt have known there was a ban at all in my neighborhood. very wild and very intense fireworks started about 15 min before midnight , all under the safe and watchful eye of 2 of san antonio's finest parked just 1 block away!!. i overheard that the ban was more successful in the more "docile" and "compliant" non-Hispanic neighborhoods. (primarily outside 1604) i kinda wish i hadn't run with the meek sheep and had instead bought fireworks ....

Shame on you. Think of all the property and lives that may have been saved becasue one less didn't . Be proud that you didn't. I'm proud of you.

In those neighborhoods the rules were not any different than any other year. The City has always banned fireworks.

Even though the city has always banned fireworks, the enforcement of the ban has been lax. Every year, I've witnessed police officers driving up and down neighborhoods where fireworks are blatantly displayed and have yet to see one citation issued. Having been a lifelong resident of both south and westsides of San Antonio, I can say that fireworks have ALWAYS been a NYE staple and I don't ever see it disappearing, regardless of any ban. I agree with Voyager. I followed the herd rather than do my own thing and wish I hadn't. I love fireworks!
