Hi there;

My wife and I are considering a job in San Antonio. I am a nurse and am considering going to work for Methodist Hospital. We are unfamiliar with the area and want to know of a great place to raise our family that is fairly near the hospital. It is the hospital on Floyd Curl in the Southwest Texas Medical Center area. Your feedback is greatly appreciated.

Where are you coming from? Unless your expectations are low, I don't consider any place in San Antonio "a great place" to raise a family.

Maybe look at some of the outlying communities such as Castorville and Boerne?

If you must live closer to work, look at Helotes, maybe Alamo Heights, Hollywood Park or the Stone Oak area.

Check out the relocation sticky just a few posts up. It contains a ton of information and will help you out greatly. I consider most of San Antonio a great place to raise a family. It's a very family oriented city. Good luck!

Actually, I love raising my son here in SA. I've lived many places and SA is now "home" to me. We love it here and won't ever leave.

Not sure why you say that you don't think it's a good place to raise a family.

I grew up very near the Medical Center and while it is not perfect (but what area is) I would recommend it to almost anyone who has a family.

Delrab,

If you need to be close to the medical Center look north of Wurzbach and south of 1604. That'll get you to the Medical Center within about 30 minutes in bad traffic. Home prices can be anywhere from the millions to very affordable in San Antonio terms (100s). You'll be in the Northside School District with any number of great schools, churches, shopping, and activities.
