I would stay where I am at now. The new club will be smaller, and the owner is different.
I pay rent to work where I am, as I am an independent contractor.
If it was the same owner I could work at both. Different owner, 2 rents unfortunately.

the new one I could walk to, the one I am at now is only a 5-7 minute drive. So it is really no big deal.

Yeah, my mistake. It'll be a Anytime Fitness. Maybe fitmommy can move to the smaller/closer club. I go to Spectrum and pay over $130/month for a family membership. I'd switch to this kind of club in a heartbeat.

I realize the convenience of all the stores mentioned, however, I'd like to know if anyone is upset over having their once wooded area being commercialized. Someone mentioned it before, there is an abundance of strips malls at every corner...I mean, really, how many nail salons are really needed? Don't get me wrong, w/the traffic on 281, it does make it convenient, but did anyone move here to get away from the city?
Also...what are the thoughts on having an EXXON in your backyard?

I realize the thread has been going on for quite some time, however, to comment on the traffic on Overlook...You're right, it's not dense, but people do act like it's a speedway! People need to slow down around here...still some deer around. AND CHILDREN!

Interesting comments. I do have the exact opposite view on almost everything you mentioned though.

1. I rather have smaller stores, where you can park right outside and go in. I have an extreme dislike for the HEB mall model. They create congestions at many areas of our town, and make you walk a mile to get milk once your finally in the parking lot. They also have an extreme high turnover of employees, resulting is sup-par service (more wait time).

2. The gas station idea hurts at first, but I really don't mind having a simple convenience store close by. (milk is commonly cheaper)

3. Speeding on overlook? That is the last street in the entire bexar country area someone should speed on. I hope they keep up the enforcement.

4. The entire planning of the area is very very "sub-urban". Most of the lots are small. So I never perceived this as a getaway from the city.

This is my belief to a large degree. I look forward to being able to walk less than a half mile to get some goodies instead of having to jump in my car and drive (though that will still be an often used option to be sure).

I agree with Traficdogn and dendox. I also saw a crew putting up a sign, Lemon Tree Dental. Does anyone know anything about this dental group? If they become my dentist, I wouldn't have to worry about finding a ride if I am drugged up on pain meds after a procedure. I can just walk home, after I stop by the liquor store. LOL J/K....... maybe.

The Shell, not Exxon, is in my back yard, sort of. My back yard is across Canyon Golf Rd from the Shell. I am not bothered by it. Do you know how many times we have had a party and ran out of ice? Problem solved. A little too short on milk for a recipe? Now we don't have to drive anywhere, I can just walk across the street. Yes it's going to be more expensive, but for a last minute item, it would probably end up costing the same after factoring in time and gas to drive to Walgreens (also higher priced), Target, or HEB. It would also be nice to be able to get gas in the area instead of driving out or in the opposite direction of where I am going.

A lot of the people think the traffic will be bad. I don't. I think it would service most of the people just in our area. The people who live off of Borgfeld will most likely use the gas station by the fire dept as they head to or from 281, or the one off of Blanco by the Timberwood entrance for that side. Those who cut through Canyon Golf will use the new one, probably. I would think anyone living past the Wilderness Oak and Canyon Golf intersection will use the Bigs station on 281 or the one off of Stone Oak. That's just my guess, and I could be way off and in for a big surprise.

Good gravy - there must be a huge market for pedicures and dirty suits....

I was hoping for a nice place to grab a few drinks on a patio. Given all the 'pet friendly' signs around the parking lot - that would be an awesome way to hang with the neighbors while giving the dogs a walk.
