As people who eat out as frequently as we cook at home, and always looking for a deal, I pass these deals on to others. I only have info on a few places in Stone Oak, but if anyone knows about other restaurants doing this please post it! Kirbys Steakhouse does half off wine on Sunday (I got a bottle of Jordan Cab for $50!!!) and Silo 1604 does it on Monday. I believe you have to buy dinner at both places for the deal. I will be plundering their wine lists for weeks to come!

Oh yeah, Soleil also has a bottomless mimosa for $12.50 during their Sunday brunch.
Hmmm, I foresee a brunch visit in my near future.

All the talk of "value meals" and then the prix-fixe & 1/2 off bottle of wine on Monday nights at Silo got me jonesin'! Any recommendations?

Default Bistro Soleil Review

Okay, so I'm a big fan of wine "deals" and I've been dying to try Soleil... it's right around the corner from our house.
We went Thursday night and I have to say that none of us were impressed. I feel like we "missed" out or something... the restaurant was packed, which thrills me; I love to see local restaurants doing well. However, none of our meals were outstanding. We ordered the caesar salad (eh, it was okay) and the spinach w/ goat cheese- very good. Then we ordered the Duck Confit Egg Rolls.... I was VERY excited about them. They were very disappointing. In fact, I think the chef had an error and some blue cheese got in them on accident... random I know, but there were three of us and we all tasted blue cheese.
For entrees, I had the scallop appetizer- the scallops were fantastic, the cabbage they were on was fine. H had the blackened salmon and he said he would not order it again. My mom have the penne w/ vodka sauce (and scallops) and it was not very good vodka sauce... I've had much better for 1/2 the price elsewhere!
Highlight of the meal- the 1/2 price bottle of champagne!

All that said, the place was packed so I almost feel we should give it another try. But I also feel we ordered a variety of items... and for the price, there are many other places I'd rather try.

Anyone care to share their favorite dishes at Soleil? *If* (and that's a big *if* bc I don't think I can get H to take me again...) we go again, what should we try?
