Just trying to motivate .

It isn't easy to avoid those convenient unhealthy foods (very addictive) and it is impossible sometimes to find time to workout, but you'll be much happier in life when you take control.

I hate the way we try to be "sensitive" about weight issues. If you need to lose weight it is a health issue. If you don't change your diet and exercise you obviously don't care about yourself.

In my little count earlier my guess is that it's a health issue for 4 out of the 5 people I mentioned. I can't remember how many times I've thought after someone passed by that I can't understand how they could let themselves go that far. At some point you have to wake up and do something about it. Like someone I knew who had to move so they could balance the RJ we were flying on... about that time he started showing up at work with slim fast cans. How many seat belt extensions and trouble with turnstiles does it take?

The best part is that many overweight people eat when they feel insecure -- so your "motivational" speech may just tip the scales in the wrong direction.

Yah, what she said.

BTW, I don't think it is only a San Antonio problem . I do agree it is bad and I often wonder how people let themselves get to that point. If I get an extra 10 pounds on me then I diet and lose it (which I need to do right now ). Unfortunately, I am hitting middle age and it isn't quite so easy anymore . And the donut didn't help either (oops).

People are only fat in real life.........no one posting on C-D is fat, ugly, or poor. And they all drive brilliantly.

Ok I didn't read the article, but I think a lot of people get confused as to what exactly is meant by "fat". After all, science now says being fat and fit is better than being thin and sedentary (link).

Other words, go to the gym, then go for your McDonalds!

If I just skip McDonald's, then can I skip the gym?
