Im a frustrated mother who had two doctors tell me your son is fine. I did my research and he does seems to have autism. I was told stop worring and he seems to be alittle shy that is all. My son repeats, doesnt interact with other children, and lines up most of his toys. What can i do? He is 4 and I still have no one to help me.

Get a third opinion. Take him to a different pediatrician, one with experience in dealing with autistic children. My kids' pediatrician is Dr. Jose Clay-Flores who initiated testing for my daughter at 18 mos old when she showed signs of delay/autism, we were then referred to Brighton. You can contact either Brighton or Easter Seals (depending on your school district) and have one of their therapists come out to your home and do an evaluation. It was the very best decision we ever made. And do not, absolutely do not, let any doctor tell you to not worry or invalidate your gut feeling. Sometimes some kids parallel play & have speech and developmental delays that does not necessarily mean they are autistic - they may just be delayed but it is always better to know for certain.

How affectionate is your child? How responsive is he to hugs and kisses? Does he willingly come up and sit on your lap, initiate play with you, or kiss and hug you? Does he allow you to touch him? Don't scare yourself by what you read on google either though.

Here are the names of the above mentioned organizations and the doctor. Sending positive thoughts and prayer your way! I know this can be a very scary time.

Dr. Jose Clay-Flores 210.688.0088
Brighton (210) 826-4492
Easter Seals (210) 614-3911

You may also want to consider contacting your school district (the elem school your son would attend) they may be able to offer you some resources as well, since I just noticed your child is already four years old.

Try Clinical Behavior Analysis-210-657-7400. They helped me when no one else would or had the time. They did a autism test on my son through someone at the Autism Treatment Center. It's a start and they are very helpful. Hope you find the answers and good luck.
