If you're looking for bright and clean with animals, check out Sea World. Tad more expensive, but sounds like what you're looking for.

What nerve those animals have!! How dare they act depressed when I'm walking through the zoo to view them? Don't they realize that I had to PAY (at some point) to enter the park? Bad animals !!

No party there, though I had a friend who ran the education programs and they always seemed pretty neat.

re: Africa - I had hoped they'd expand the area they already had for the larger animals in addition to the indoor thing. It looks like they're still working on it though.

Well, shoot! Somebody give those animals some antidepressants!

I really like the new enclosure they have for the hippos. You can look through the window into the water and watch them swim. I've had to hunt for parking spaces but never had a real issue with it. But yeah, the crowds are something else.

I have a lot of experience with exotic and domestic animals and Chaka is right, this is how they behave when it's hot...even in the wild. The goats at the petting area really have it made. They lay around while little kids brush them.

I too was disappointed with Africa Live. All that for a hippo? I thought all the African animals would have awesome new exhibits. The kids liked the hippos though, even when they pooped right up on the glass for all to see. In fact, that was the part the kids liked best I think!

I have never experienced a crowd at the zoo, but I go during the week at 10 am. I don't go on the weekends.

We always go during the weekend. Guess that explains the crowd problem.
