Just a comment. We've being doing some business dinners and going out personally. Two nights in a row - service seems to have gone to heck.

Moderator cut: name and location of Japanese restaurant They used to give you an edamae appetizer. No more - sign of bad times? Waitress forgot the soup. The sushi and main courses all arrive at the same time. The rolls were getting sparse on main ingredients. Bye, bye - avocado and the crab was some kind of preprocessed krab salad from an HEB tub. In the udon with seafood - you had to fish for the fish.

The waitress spent her time bellowing her life story in great personal detail to a table of people her age.

Then Moderator cut: name of another restaurant - we get there early - service is glacially, glacially slow. There's NO one there when we arrive and it takes about 30 minutes to produce a salad. The manager disappears into the men's room to do his makeup and hogs the john. The staff is just yaking. Food was a little faster but something failed in the kitchen. Dinner was good but speed of service -

When times are tough, the tough go slower?

We went to Moderator cut: name of restaurant last week and walked by Moderator cut: name of restaurant #2 above in the process. That place was a ghost town on a Thursday evening. Maybe they don't get much practice serving customers.

HA, went to Moderator cut: name of another restaurant for HH with friends - as always got the slow one of the bunch!

Not sure why those staff don't smell money and a good tip on a table of 10 young professionals out for a Friday HH?

sometimes I wonder which is more offensive, flat out don't care or mediocre with style & smiles

went to the latest sit down at AR for late lunch yesterday, our friendly waiter placed the ck saying he would let us decide what to leave him ..... if only I had felt up to a discussion, still most likely there will be a email to corporate this week

Discussing the trend in the thread title is OK, as long as specific restaurants aren't named.

Send the member a DM. Restaurants can't be named with a complaint in the forum.

This is not the right place for consumer complaints. Such posts present defamation issues and they don't give the other side the opportunity to present their side of the argument.

We were actually pleasantly surprised Friday night when we went to a nearby chain restaurant (gasp!). It was PACKED to the gills (thought we were in a recession ), but fortunately they have "call ahead seating" and our wait (all 7 of us!) was only about 20 minutes. Our waiter was GREAT! Not all personal chatty, very professional and pleasant, right there with refills, etc. And what shocked us (pleasantly!) was that there wasn't a tip already added into the bill, even tho there were 7 of us. He ended up with MUCH more of a tip than he woulda got with the predetermined amount that is frequently added in for larger parties.

Also, we recently went to Godai for Happy Hour. As always, superb service and amazingly fresh sushi! Our waiter even gave us separate bills (it was several couples) without us having to ask. We've always had excellent service there.

Fortunately for us, we've not experienced crummy service lately. (Well, now that I've said that ~ I'm sure we will! LOL!)
