Try the Texas board for the best answers on Laredo. There are some posters from there on that board, if I'm not mistaken.

so near 35 and 410.......bad?
Nuevo Laredo has seen a spate of crime of late due to drug gang activity. Laredo is relatively safe. There are always concerns of spillover crime, but nothing like Juarez/El Paso.

Laredo is not a bad town. An interesting place with a lot of old money....

near 35S/410 there isn't much. Again, there are pockets of good and pockets of not so good. That area isn't hugely developed. If you're looking for city life, you're still a bit away from it all. Now, that said, one of the things I like about the southside is you can have horses (ie horse property) and still see the Tower of the Americas. It's so undeveloped it feels rural right next to downtown.

I think the blanket "stay away from the southside" is ignorant - in that it's either based on historical prejudice or simply rumour, but I do agree there are places within that you'd want to avoid, esp. if you're used to living in new subdivisions.

Google Maps

I was just there last weekend... looks exactly like the satellite pic.

There may be a Starbucks on the NE side of 35 and 410 by Windsor Park Mall though...

I was teasing HisLilSecret who posted earlier about Starbucks at 35 and 410. She (she?) meant 410 and 16.

This is a great idea. And while you're here, take a test drive down to Cotulla and see exactly how far it is.
