Dang, no love for The Little Red Barn in this thread?
I know they've had some issues lately, but I've always loved the place. No, it's not Morton's, but hey, sometimes you want an affordable steak. Kinda like Bill Miller's ain't top-of-the-line barbecue, but damn if it doesn't hit the spot sometimes. And yes, the salads are iceberg lettuce, but they're there for you when you sit down, with Captain's Wafers on the side! Pass me the Green Goddess dressing!

I went once and the food nor the atmosphere was impressive. It was kitschy and "quaint" but the steak was nothing to write home about and the salad...was torn iceberg and a scant few shreds of carrot. My friend ordered short ribs and the meat was cold. Instead of properly reheating it they threw it in the microwave (the perimeter of the food was hot but not the middle). She took the leftovers home to her dogs, they gave rave reviews.

The best thing about the place was the service, the coffee stayed refilled and the conversation was nice.

I was hoping this was going to be one of those hidden foodie gems. I used to drive past and imagine the beefy goodness that resided inside. It definitely lacked...beefy and goodness.

*snickers* cowgirls? more like cow-older-ladies

Also I think we need a better welcome wagon. I have noticed twice that someone with just one post is given a poor reception.

I went one time last year and that was it for me. The waitress wasn't very friendly and the steaks were a bad cut. I would much rather have a steak at Texas Roadhouse.

A favorite of my fathers, and became a favorite of mine. Next time I'm in town, definitely will stop by...

The meat is pretty tasteless unless you put on some steak sauce ... Love the green salad dressing

It was better maybe 30 years ago or so. Haven't been in years it's just too noisy, crowded and pic-nicky! That part of town hasn't exactly improved in recent years either!
