Hello, I haven't lived here in San Antone too long and am on my way to a final interview with USAA as an "Auto Claims Representative -- very exciting for me ! But I was wondering if anybody had an idea as to what the pay is in this department. I'm sure, whatever it is -- it's gotta pay more than what I'm doing now -- but I'd rather bother asking people that aren't going to dictate whether I get hired on or not. Heh.

All my love,
Adrian

you know, i was an auto claims rep for a number of years at USAA --- but this was back in the early to mid 90's --- so LOTS has changed i am sure --- are you going for an Express Auto Claims Rep (if they even still have an express unit) or an Auto Claims Adjuster??? --- there was a difference in pay between the 2 ---

My position reads "Rep" and not "Adjuster"

So I guess I'm not an adjuster ?

well...with no previous experience you will probably walk in at that position making about 24k - 26k a year --- if you have previous auto claims experience you can probably negotiate a little more ---

now keep in mind i worked there from 1992 until 2003 --- so many things, pay included, have changed...

i am just trying to give you an idea of what you may be looking at...

also, don't be afraid to ask them how much the position pays or starts at and what benefits are included --- i applied for many jobs throughtout USAA while i was there and that was always a question that the managers expected to hear...

good luck with your interview!!!

24-26K/year...are you serious? Seems awfully low, no.?

well, again, it depends on his previous experience and what title he is actually getting --- if it is an express rep job then the pay is lower than an adjuster --- the adjuster would probably be more around 30k or so...

now with cost of living increases etc...that have happened since i have been there the starting pay may very well be more---

but USAA has never really been a high payer in the insurance industry --- many of my co-workers left to another local insurance company where the pay was starting at 54k whereas the same type unit at USAA was starting at apx 34k...
