Except that it's almost impossible to go to it if you are coming from the South during rush hour.

Target seems to do a better job of keeping their stores nice, but they're a little more pricey than Wall-Mart, but at least you don't have to worry about your car being broken into while your shopping. I also noticed that the Cuts and Prices of meat seem to vary from H.E.B to H.E.B. What do you guys think?
We notice too! I do think that the meats vary per location, depends on where the good butchers are...

Well, there is Central Market.

I like the HEB Plus at Potranco/1604. I think the Wal Mart there is not too bad, either. They are crowded, though.

unless you count the location..

the Potranco HEB+ is my favorite and it has remained clean for quite a while, which is something the Military/410 wallyworld can't say. then again nice walmart is an oxymoron if there ever was one.

YES they sure do vary!!! I live closest to the HEB Plus on Potranco but work on Lackland. I have seen "specials" listed in a flyer that I went to grab at the little HEB outside the Medina gate on Lackland on the way home and they had different meat specials. Seems they are "selected" per store area. That being said, can get a LOT more food specials at the HEB Plus than the regular HEB IMHO. They often do those "bundle" packs, and meat gets placed on "special" more midweek than weekends when they are the busiest. I have gotten to where I like to shop Tue and Wed for that very reason.

I agree that the Sonterra Wal-Mart is the cleanest I know of. The one at Nacogdoches and 1604 isn't bad, either.

You Wal-Mart haters must not have been in one lately. The shopping experience there has quadrupled in quality over the years. They used to be cramped, sticky, dirty bowls of YUCK. Now, they are clean, with wide aisles, very well-kept shelves, and low prices to boot. I like Super Target, but Wal-Mart is comparable in cleanliness and their customer service beats Target's to death. (Like, if you have to return something--no hassles whatsoever at Wallyworld.) Target does have higher quality meats and their presentation in the produce department is much better--hell, they even beat HEB, IMO, but y'all keep shopping everywhere else..........maybe Wal-Mart will slow down some and I'll get in and out quicker.

The one at SR 1604 and Blanco is pretty nice. It's an HEB - a humongous one at that.

I second the Oak Park and Lincoln Heights HEB recommendations. Lincoln Heights was just redone, too. Oak Park, though, inspires vast amounts of nostalgia in me, as it still looks like what it used to be, which was the nicest Handy Andy in town.

Plus, there's Central Market, but I don't really count it because it's not a regular everyday grocery store where you can stock up on toilet cleaner and dish soap.

LOVE the HEB+ @ 281/Evans. It's technically not "mine", but I like it just the same.
