The bottom line is the OP was well within his rights to flag the officer down for a very valid reason. If that was you or I barreling through his neighborhood, and a 'law enforcement officer' spotted us, we would have been well and truly served. Why should a cop be any different?

On top of that, they were rude, antagonistic, and unlawful. There is no justification for that.

Someone that is a good, honest, hard working citizen of this city shouldn't have to put up with that ****.

So I guess we reach a conclusion. **** cops, and **** those that think they are above the law.

While I would have said it differently, I do agree with parts of what you said. I think professional officers are an important part of a civilized society, but they cannot portray themselves as above the law and they should not try to intimidate others. It simply breeds contempt.

I don't think there was any civil rights violation, but the behavior was definitely not ethical. When I was in the military we were always reminded that we are ambassadors of the military/our service and the public's perception of our behavior will influence their perception of the entire military/service. I have never been LE, so I do not know if they have that belief as well, but they definitely should,because that is obviously how the public's perception of them works. This thread is all the proof one needs for that one.

Every police force has officers that should be weeded out and those are the ones you'll hear about. Just because there are a few nutjobs on the force doesn't make the whole force bad. Overall, I think our officers are doing a pretty good job and would rather have them than none at all. Also, I've noticed that the ones who spend any amount of time bad-mouthing cops are the first ones to call them when they're in trouble.

Ha, I was going to post that same link.. believe it or not, these stories are not common in other cities. I've never lived anywhere that had this many police officers arrested. It would be breaking news in almost every other city in the country, except maybe lala land and anything in florida

You're right, but when each officer comes to back up their Moderator cut: inappropriate friends, that DOES make the whole force bad.

Wrong again. Even if they did call 'em, they either wouldn't show up or take their sweet Moderator cut: inappropriate time to the point where they weren't needed anymore.
