I am sorry to hear about what happened to your dog. It must have felt horrible. In the future, if you think your dog needs medical treatment, do not wait. If you can't pay on that day, most vets will bill you or set up some kind of payment plan. When you care about your pets like people, you should get them medical treatment like we get for people (even when they can't afford it at the time).

lifting your dog isn't dangerous but you will get dogs jumping on you, guaranteed.

Default Seriously, Can't you people just be sympathetic!!!

After reading all your responses to this poor lady who just lost her dog and you are all being so pious and judgemental! Well, I am ashamed of all of you! The second poster has to correct her mis-spelling- what the *@&%. Then all of you going on and on how you have the perfect way & methodology of dealing with your dog while at dog parks. Well how very wonderful for all you all. To use this forum to self-aggrandize your very special dog handling ways- is to me sickening. Anyone who didn't just either make a mental note to yourself about this thread and possibly just offering the poor poster some sympathy- Well, SHAME ON YOU! I have been mortified- reading these posts and it makes me wonder what is going on in your hearts. Get off your high freakin' horses for just this one thread and be decent, kind hearted people! This lady has been deeply hurt and doesn't need your weirdnesses to make her feel any worse.

Wow, that's not what I read on here--seems like most everyone was sympathetic. Offering suggestions is not being "pious and judgmental"--it's human nature. Dog-lovers don't want to see ANY dogs mistreated and we all learn from each other.

Default Don't be defensive or holier than thou- just be kind!

Sapphire, to a certain extent your right- most of the people who responded did have sympathy. But, there was some piousness. I won't single them out but certainly the people that tried to make the poster feel culpable for the events of that day are in the wrong. I am a dog lover and have owned dogs for nearly 40 years and yet, when I read the posters original post it never occured to me to go in to "great detail" with her about all the proper ways to handle the situation and make her feel even worse about her dog dying. How about correcting her spelling in the second post? No sympathy there. I do think that some of the people had sympathy, but certainly not all of them and a good deal of them- were as they often are- more interested in being right- then being kind. I doubt this lady who's dog just died is even capable of processing all of their well-meaning advice.

So, you would have rather just had a thread of posts telling her how sorry they were that it happened, and that's it? What good is that? Yes, it would maybe make her feel better, but this is not a mental health forum. We are all pretty nice on here, many people know each other, work together, live in the same neighborhoods, but when we have an issue--yes, we want kindness but we are all looking for solutions! A better, smarter way of doing things. Sorry that you are having a hard time with this thread. I really am.

It's a fair point you've made here. I recommend that everyone who has posted in this thread take a minute to look back and ponder whether their posts were truly offered in the spirit intended by the owner of City-Data. As the TOS says, "We are here to help each other." That spirit should come through in every post.
