Maybe if you're in the military out on the Northeast Side. I would overall say that the North Central and Northwest sides are the best parts of town. North from about Alamo Heights (78209) straight up 281 past 1604 is great. Also, the area between I-10, US 281, 1604, and I-410 is nice. (78230, 78231, etc.)

When I first started researching where to live in SA, I came across this great website that gives the statistics of every zip code independantly. Everybody has an opinion, but it's best to have the facts.

Since so many people in SA are staying home from work today, I was wondering if somebody has the time to go through all 30 or so zip codes from this website, and do the leg work? I did it about a year ago, but I no longer have my notes. I do remember the far west/ northwest having 3 of the top 5 safest zip codes in SA.

He posted that on 1/17/2007 ~ IIRC, that was one of the days of the "big freeze" when the whole city shut down.
