I'm looking for groups or clubs that exist or maybe some guys that want to get together once in a while to push the counters around the map. Maybe exchange info about hobby shops that still carry games, help find what we're looking for. Just generally stay in touch with the hobby. I'm getting older and while I love the computer sims, with all the bookkeeping chores taken care of...there's still something about getting together over a table and playing with friends...just missing the "good ole days" I guess.

I have a friend that owns a gaming store. He sells little war guys and characters and has the terrains set up for you to use. Is this what your looking for? It's off Tezel and Guilbeau. Thecentralcommandgames.com. Hope this helps.

That's pretty cool - I had some friends (military) that play Warhammer 40K all the time...most of them moved away. I never really got into the games, but the intricacies of the models and worlds they would build were awesome. Does Purple Cactus still carry this stuff? I haven't been in a long time...

Let me be clear, I know that the perception is that wargamming is a "man's" hobby, but my cousin and I played Avalon Hill's Gettysburg ('64 version) and she usually kicked the crap out of me. So if any ladies want to respond I'm all for it. I'd also like to hear how you got into the hobby. For me, my Dad was a WWII veteran, so I grew up with his stories, which lead to reading and investigating, and that evolved into Chess, then I discovered "conflict simulation" a.k.a. wargamming.

I'm interested in knowing more about COD 4? Is that the "Modern" warfare version? How does it compare to the Ghost Recon series?
