Next year, I plan to retire, move to San Antonio and purchase a condo. My limit is $75,000. Ive seen a lot of gorgeous properties on line in my price range but cant really know about the neighborhoods. Will 75K get me into a safe attractive residential area or will I need to keep working?

75 will buy you a 1/1 condo in a ok area but you might think about 85 for a 2/2

I would be careful, for $75,000 honestly. But, it just depends on the neighborhood. It might help us all give you more accurate reviews of the neighborhoods if you post which ones you're considering..every neighborhood is different.

what do you consider safe? i used to live in a place where you couldn't leave your lawn mower in your back yard or it would be stolen. it was safe though in terms of not getting robbed or shot.

Wow. Tough one. I'm not sure what you can get for $75k in San Antonio. This is a better time to be buying for sure, but $75k may be a tad low for a nice neighborhood.

He wants a condo, though, so he won't have a lawn mower.

Why don't you describe where the condos were that you saw online. That might give people more info to be able to tell you if it's a nice area.

Speaking of this, 100-125k can get you a home in a pretty good area right? I see lots of newer 2-story homes in NW and SW etc. for around this price but are the areas good?
