Hi to all,

After our home is sold, we are looking to rent a double house or duplex (2 bd) when we relocate to SA in the fall. I have been looking on a nation-wide realtor website and it appears that most are in the 78233, 78239 and 78247 areas. Are there any on the w/nw side? Do these areas have low crime, low drug activity and relatively quiet?

Any good info would be appreciated and thanks in advance.

There's a few in the area where I live,
I don't know their name but they are located here
I don't know if there's any for rent.
16209 avenida del luna, san antonio,t x - Google Maps
16720 henderson pass, san antonio, tx - Google Maps

In that area, seems like the farther West, the better it gets.

There are duplexes along Dover Ridge in 78250 on the NW side. I think they are attractive and look well-maintained. There are also some in the Blanco/Wurzbach area, in the neighborhood beside Churchill (not the Patricia Ave. side)-- I can't think of the name of the street they're off of, but they look decent enough. It's not as NW as Dover Ridge, though.

Dopo, Sapphire and Anthony SA:

Thanks so much for your insights.

I have gone to google maps to "walk" down the street in these areas and I do agree with you. Of course, we will check them out personally when we move in Oct/Nov this year.

We are looking forward to moving to San Antonio after searching around since '03. We are literally escaping from New York State.

Thanks again and have a great day!

Do you have street names for these areas? We are looking as well.

The streets we have found are in the NW area -
Santa Catalina, Ardash, Tourant

Default Duplexes

Good morning All,

As far as the NW area is concerned, any useful info regarding character of neighborhoods/streets inside this area that has: w1604n loop to the north, in between babcock, bandera, guilbeau & culebra, huebner and grissom to the south. Last time I visited, I didn't get a chance to check out all of these areas as well as I would have liked.

Although I would prefer a duplex, I am open to 2b apts as a 2nd choice, under $800. Hopefully, I'll be working in Med Center area but don't need to live there. I also hope the commute time is less than 25 min.

Please pardon me if this has been addressed before and thanks again for the help that I have already received. Feel free to DM me.

Have a great day!

Out of curiosity, why are you looking to rent a duplex instead of a regular single family home? SA doesn't have a ton of great duplexes. We're a totally different type of place than NY, so you can probably find a killer single family home for rent that's not outrageous.

I can see wanting to own a duplex, but if a home is available for close to the same price, I'd go with the home all day long.

I'd prefer a single home but we will be working f/t and returning to school. We want to stay in budget & have waaay less maintanence.

Makes sense. In a lot of cities, duplexes are a cheaper way to go. We've got so many single family homes here, that you probably will be able to find a good rental. Maintenance on a duplex v. house will be about the same, and most of it will be done by the landlord. Just keep your options open, as SA is different than where you're coming from.
