My family and I are going to be moving to San Antonio this summer. Although we are very excited to be moving there, we are worried about finding a safe and NICE area to raise our children. We obviously want GOOD schools. I noticed O'Connor seems to be a good high school, anybody know anything about this school? What about a good middle and elem school for this area? We want to stay around the Northside because he will be working at Lackland. Where is the safest and nicest neighborhood that is an easy commute to the base and has good schools? Is Brauns Farm area safe?

Thank you so much for anybody responding!!

Search the threads for Trophy Ridge by Medallion Homes. Good homes, good schools, great neighbors! Schools (depending on cap limits) are Forrester Elem, Vale MS, and Stevens HS. I work on the back side of Lackland and usually takes only 15 minutes to get to work. Traffic can be a little congested at times, but the nice thing about it is there's always an alternative route!
As FCF stated, the relocation thread has some good info, but the threads to as well. Search through then come back with some more specifics and I'm sure you'll have plenty of help!

San Antonio proper has the following major school districts.

In Alphbetical order:

Alamo Heights Independent SD
Edgewood ISD
North Central ISD
North East ISD
San Antonio ISD
South San Antonio ISD

(I hope I didn't leave any out!)

If you're wanting a Lackland commute, you should probably start with North Central ISD. Google their website and then look at the website for each school. There are a lot of excellent schools throughout San Antonio. After reading up on some of the schools, please come back with a bit more specific information. IE ages of children, their interests ie band, sports, drama etc....
do they have special needs or academic strengths or weaknesses.

What are you looking for in a neighborhood....and what price range? Multi family or single family residence. Then find a great Realtor to help you search for homes in those school districts. There really is only so much that can be provided on this web site. Keep in mind, that a Realtor cannot recommend school districts to you.

Good luck!

O'Connor and Clark are very good schools that I would highly recommend. Brandeis is brand new but many of its students came from O'Connor and Clark so I imagine is will be a good school. Stevens is a beautiful school...but don't let looks deceive you. It is WAY to overcrowded and, in my opinion, not a very good school (I graduated from Stevens).

I think you meant Northside ISD.

For Lackland area, I would also add Southwest ISD.

I hasn't heard anything about those schools being capped. Where did you hear that?

I'm pretty sure Braun's Farm will either go to Marshall or O'Connor. Both top notch. O Connor is newer though.

According to the NISD website, Braun's Farm is in the O'Connor area. While the neighborhood is still nice, across the street is Oak Grove, which doesn't have as good of a reputation (from what I hear). Of course, just down the street from Braun's Farm are some neighborhoods that are VERY nice. There are new shopping centers relatively close that offer everything from a movie theater to a grocery store to a Home Depot to banks and restaurants. My parents live in the general vicinity, so I would not hesitate to recommend the Braun Road area.

I would seriously doubt that O'Connor is capped since Brandeis was just opened this year to relieve it.
