From the RMA:

Today, March 23, 2009, the San Antonio Bexar County Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO), voted to fund the US 281 Super Street with a combination of federal stimulus funds, advanced transportation district funds, and funds from the City of San Antonio.

The Alamo RMA will be overseeing the design and construction of the Super Street for US 281.

The Super Street will provide increased travel ease on US 281, north of Loop 1604, and construction is estimated to start by mid-summer 2009.

Happy, Happy, Day...

Any idea when they will begin to tear up roads? (I know that things must get worse before they get better)

Funny. I was sitting there and didn't hear it correctly. Maybe because I had to listen to so much "stuff" before they ever got to the vote. I do recall they were still .5 million short and that would be made up out of the District 9 budget.
What was I thinking? The RMA has no money. At least they have a job now.

Good news, but it will be a long hot summer on 281 north. I'll definitely take Ralph Fair Road north to Hwy 46 and then east to 281 north when heading up that way to Canyon Lake (if there's water?).

Is there a video somewhere that will show how the superstreet will work? I saw a snippet on an animation on the news.
