Is working in Yellowstone actually working? When I was there it seemed more like sitting in Heaven, but then again I was a tourist.

It's one of the few "jobs" that I know of where people actively quit their high-paying corporate jobs and work nearly minimum wage as a park ranger just so they can live in places like that. It's pretty sweet, the park takes care of you like the military and u got a small school, housing, hospital, etc for employees.

+1 for Bank of America today. I was shopping in France, London, and New Jersey and they put a hold on the card. Only problem was they sent me an e-mail saying it was on hold, even though everyone always tells you to never listen to anything you receive in e-mail. So I guess that's +1 for being alert and -1 for not following your own advice.. in their defense, the e-mail did say to call or check my banking site for the alert and only linked to the real BofA site. I didn't believe any of it, though, and called the actual 1-866 number found on their website.

Why didn't you call before you left the country? For folks who don't travel often...this is the wise thing to do. Let them know when and where you'll be going...this way no "issues" with your card.
RD, remember to reclaim your VAT (TVA, in France) tax.Ask the merchant for the forms.

I never left my house
so I don't have to pay VAT/TVA? Does that include transportation too? I have paid taxes up the wazoo for train, bus, and airfare so far.

No. Just goods. They'll usually credit it back to the card that you used. Remember for when you get there.

When you do leave...call them before (you probably know this already). I have permanent notes in my account since I'm out of the country so often...my wife's cards do as well.

Yah, I called AMEX about a month out and told them I would be making purchases online, then I also gave them the dates of my travel. Smart move going to the website for the phone number! Before we left I had a business card full of coded notes and phone numbers in case I lost my cards. Nothing like needing the phone number or security code from a credit card that's in your wallet you left on the train!!
Happy Travels!!
