It was just like a Denny's, they had some great food. It was believe it or not a family friendly place.

Sambos was my favorite "Dennys" type restaurant. They were open 24 hours a day, and served good food, and they had pretty waitresses. When I was courting my wife, we had many a late night meal at the Sambos on Vance Jackson. After we married, one morning I took a "sample" to my wife's doctor, drove to the Sambos on Babcock, ordered breakfast, went to the payphone to call my wife at work, and she already had the results that we were going to be parents the first time!

I find nothing objectionable about the Sambos name. "The Story Of Little Black Sambo" was a favorite book of mine when I was a kid, and when my daughter was three or four, we bought her a kiddie record of "Little BRAVE Sambo". The PC police had already reared their ugly heads by then.

I also remember and LOVED to eat at Mammy's Cafeteria.

There was a Sambo's on Wurzbach and 10....where the Denny's is now. They had good food! Wonder what the PC police are going to complain about next?

It was next to the Century Building. There was a car dealer there more recently (Jaguar?), then they leveled the place.

Now they are building a Cracker Barrel on the corner where the Mitsubishi dealer was.

Does anyone remember the name of the CD/Record shop that used to be downtown near the Pioneer Facility (in that area) back in the early 90's? If I remember correctly, some actually murdered the owner while he was closing one night.

I bought a lot of New Wave/Techno stuff there back in the day. Not sure why, but this place popped into my head and I cannot for the life of me remember the name of it.
