Does anyone remember Conan's Pizza? I'm not sure, but I think it was off of 410 over by where the dollar theatre is...

That place had some gigantic pizza pies and was always packed. This was back in the early 80s.

Oddly enough, here is something that has not changed over the years in San Antonio. The 226-3232 time and temperature phone number. Weird, huh?

My grandparents had LE(high) 3-1472 from the early 1920s until 1988 when I sold their second home after their passing. The first house was in Denver Heights the second in Highland Park and the phone numbered followed the move.

I miss the old phone exchanges. You could tell which part of town you were calling. I lived in Dellview in the DIamond exchange. My aunt lived closer to downtown in the PErshing exchange. Another aunt lived in Alamo Heights in the TAylor exchange. My grandmother lived on the south side in the LEhigh exchange and her sister lived in Harlandale in the WAlnut exchange. The west side had GEneral, the south east side had EDison, and MOhawk. The Valley Hi area had ORchard, and the medical center area had OXford. Downtown was CApitol

Remember "Tel-News? You could call Capitol 5-6431, and hear a recording of Tom Ellis give the headline news. It was a loop recording, so you would get in the middle of it most of the time. I still remember the jingle: Call Tel-News San Antonio CApitol-5- (ring) 6431. Your personal newsman waits for you with round the clock news and the temperature, too, call Tel-News San Antonio, Capitol 5-6431.

Remember the 50s and 60s Arrow Upholstery commercials? They would reupholster" not just a sofa, not just a chair but BOTH sofa and chair for $89! Call them now at CApitol 7-5051." They're still in business and still have the same number! I doubt if the prices are the same!

Our first number was also a LE (lee-high?) number from the Denver Heights area. I think it was called Capitol for the CA or 22, 21 prefix numbers. TA or taylor for 82 numbers, Diamond for 34 prefix.don't know what the 33 or ED prefix was called.
