Are there no bowling alleys in this town? Or at least, any where we would care to bowl?

University Bowl.........I10 and DeZavala is nice.

Bandera Bowl.......Bandera and Huebner, decent, but always packed!

Oak Hills Lanes........Fredericksburg and Callaghan....old, small, but decent.

There is one on 281 and Bitters, too--I don't think I've been there so can't comment.

There's also a bowling alley at the intersection of Harry Wurzbach & Austin Highway. Name escapes me but I'm sure a yellow pages search would turn it up for you.

I want to say that it's called Astro Bowl or something along those lines. I went to many a birthday party there.

ETA: I google mapped it - there are actually TWO separate bowling alleys about a mile apart in that area. The Astro Bowl is on Harry Wurzbach and Eisenhauer. The Wonder Lanes is on Austin Hwy and Lanark.

Have you been to one/some that you didn't like? What exactly are you hoping to uncover with your query? Surely you've googled and mapquested just as the other posters have. I get the sense that you've been unhappy with the ones you went to. Help us to help you!

The one on 281/Bitters is one of the most modern ones in the area.

Well, we've been here for a month, but I am unfamiliar with the names (maybe they are just local but not chains?) of the bowling alleys. Not to mention, a map tells me how to get somewhere, but nothing about what's inside.
But thanks for your help.

I just want personal opinions...try vs. stay away.

Thanks. That's what I'm looking for. Maybe something that does Cosmic Bowling and has the pop-up bumpers. Oh, and those ramps for the kids.

Have you been to the one on Lackland? (I think I recall that you are military?) I'm planning to check that one out sometime soon.
