Ex-Heights student surrenders in drug case (http://www.mysanantonio.com/news/Ex-Alamo_Heights_students_charged_in_drug_scheme_surr enders.html - broken link)

I think this report is a little unfair to Alamo Heights High School and its students. Despite the fact the accused drug dealers are in their 20's, the report calls them "former students" and that they are selling to "current students". It shouldn't matter where they went to school or who they sell to. If it wasn't Alamo Heights I doubt it would even make the news, let alone one of the top stories on the page. Does anyone else agree?

We love AH, but being totally objective here, many people are under the perception that more economically advantaged areas are immune to these problems, and that may be especially true of some of the residents. If anything, it will raise awareness among the parents of students in AH that may have blinders on. Drugs are a problem everywhere....economic status does not protect anyone.

Funny, when bad things happen on the West side, West-siders say it shouldn't make the news, and that it only does because it happened on the West side. What SHOULD make the news?

Something like this should make the news, no matter where it happens.

A neighbor called the AH police on three occasions to complain of suspicious activities. No concern.
Finally, weeks later, when the police arrived, no culprit although he has since turned himself in.

Wow what a shock the wealthy suburb of AH has heroin dealers? LOL

I wonder if the wealthy in AH will move out of their inner city like environment haha (kidding, of course)

Fact is lots of kids do drugs. It's everywhere...just more on the downlow in suburbs.

If you think it's on the downlow, you must not have heard of a little thing called the internetz and myspace. The kids have their pictures posted everywhere of themselves smokin' them blunts. No DL whatsoever. They absolutely do not care what they put out there.
