Anyone have a good recommendation?

We bought our house, and we now need someone to turn a window into a door for us. I think it originally was a door, then changed into a window. I want it to be a door again. It's off the back porch, from the kitchen, and I already bought a door to go there, just need someone to modify, cut the hole, frame it, install it, and hopefully someone who works kinda cheap!

I also need to find someone to install washer connections under a kitchen counter, and put in 220 wiring for a dryer. I'd love your referrals!

He's pretty affordable and very good. I'd be cautious about going too cheap, because you get what you pay for, and when talking about electrical and plumbing connections, that could end up very badly.

ditto for me...if someone would PM me with the name of a decent licensed plumber, we need to run a gas line...replacing an electric cooktop with a gas stove.

Me too, me too! I just bought a 1951 Ranch, and as you can imagine, it needs a few things worked on. Thanks!

If you PM me I have an EXCELLENT electrician I can put you in contact with. VERY good and VERY reasonable. He is a Master Electrician who has done lots of work for us and we have referred him to several folks and everyone has been quite pleased.

And NO he is NOT related, nor do I get a finders fee!!!

I will second that on the reference to going "cheap". There are some very honest nice people who will work for next to nothing.....but that doesn't mean they do a good job. Being in the design business, I've seen it all. Just get references and call them!!!

RE: electricians and plumbers.....ask to see their license! A lot of handy people can do a lot of "odd" jobs. Electrical and plumbing mistakes can be costly and dangerous.

Ask if they take credit cards or checks! If they work for cash only, you may never see the job get finished.

Just to clarify, my "cheap" comment was mainly regarding the doorway thing.

I could do the door myself with a lot of instructions and time. LOL. It isn't *hard* but will be much faster and easier for someone who does that sort of thing all the time.

The electrical, plumbing, yeah, I know. I wasn't trying to skimp there, but I have gotten some quotes on the door that are just and I know what is involved and know how much it *should* cost so that's what's steering me towards someone who is a bit hungry for work rather than all booked up and charging accordingly.
