I just went to Woodlawn Lake this past weekend for the first time in years and I was really impressed. It's a great family-friendly place, just like I remember it from many years ago. While it is located in an older neighborhood, you can tell that the residents take pride in the area and the whole area around the park is really nice.

It's a really beautiful place to go walking/jogging. Once around the lake is a little over a mile.

There is also a sailing club that meets there periodically. (Woodlawn Sailing Club)

Woodlawn Lake is a very well kept secret. I've lived here all my life and didn't even find out about it until 4-5 years ago.

I read alot but first time poster

I have been here since July (Moved from Michigan) now living in Medical Center area by Fredricksburg. I am in a wheelchair and finding the area not very accessible (do use the bus alot). Its is basically apartments condos, lots of traffic, busy streets, no safe crossing for pedestrians. all my streets are main roads, to add insult to it all you will be going along then (BAM no sidwalk)

I have a dog and he hates the condo, I need to live in a neighborhood where I can see soemthing besides traffic, can walk the dog daily, and be part of an active divese community. I have a budget of $900 a month. Are there homes for rent in this Woodlawn area(lake Park). Went driving through there today and was captivated by the neiborhood feel.

Check Craigslist for starters, CounselorBoy. I find stuff all the time in the range you are looking for. Then go to a few realtor websites and search for rentals. I'll DM you the one where I find the most listings in that area. One day I'll eventually move out of my parents house (but not on what I make today ).

I know about a very nice home for $950 one mile from Lake. Let me know if you are interested.
