I was recently reading an article about the planned building/opening of a new super target on austin highway in the strip mall that Earl Abels is in and I immediately thought that Walmart is less than a mile away..I don't know if the walmart is considered a "super" walmart but has food, clothes etc.. I'm trying to figure out if super target will really draw that much business...don't they basically have the same kind of stuff? Can't follow the logic with this one and they also said it won't be a 24/7 store. Thoughts?

Many people like Tatget because it's cleaner, isles are clear, and doesn't attract the, well, you know, the typical Wallmart shoppers...

Where we lived in NC there was a SuperWalmart. After a few trips there I made the 20 minute drive to the next town to go to SuperTarget. Everytime I go to Walmart I leave swearing it will be my last time. We are now back in Stone Oak flanked by SuperTargets and I couldn't be happier. Honestly, I find groceries to be as cheap overall as HEB and Walmart. Yes, you can find some things cheaper at Walmart--not necessarily things I want--and HEB runs better sales but again not always what I need to buy. Target, I can run in and hit the grocery section way faster then the big HEB's and I don't mind sending my kids to school in Target t-shirts. All in all I've always found it to have better overall quality then Walmart and it seems like Target stuff keeps getting better.

I agree that the people who shop at Target may not overlap with the people who shop at WalMart. I wouldn't be caught dead in a WalMart, personally, but I love my Target. I know a lot of people who feel the same way.

Do you people realize that they both sell identical crap from China? But yeah, the Target shoppers smell a little better, I suppose.

And the floors aren't as sticky.

I have a personal preference for Target.

I don't think anyone can compare Target to Walmart. Yes, they sell stuff from China, but it is a step above the usual cheap crap Walmart sells.

I don't love Walmart. I don't love Target. I've noticed Target has a lot of nice foods and specialty stuff SuperWalmart never has!

But I wouldn't be getting a kick out of sticking the tongue out at SuperWalmart because I think "Tar-Jay" is better. Um....folks...this ain't no Sacks Fifth Avenue. It's a dang run of the mill store.

Ya' know, I do find it strange that when I go to SuperTarget it's virtually empty all the time. I don't know how they stay in business.
