My husband has just got a job at the Lincoln Center, just N of 410, on the I 10. We will be moving from Kansas and looking for a nice neighbourhood with good schools for our 6 year old. Any recs for places with great schools or places to avoid? We will be looking at places around $180K.
Thanks for any advice.

Whitewing Lane, Oak Valley, Dreamhill, Apple Creek, Dreamland. Those neighborhoods are all within a 2-3 mile radius of 410/10. They're also very nice and affordable. Can't wait to get home.

Whitewing Lane is part of the Foothills subdivision which is the neighborhood off Callaghan and Rock Creek Rd.

With a 180 budget you shouldn't have a problem expanding you radius a bit (unless you're dead set on being within a very very very short commute). Consider looking at the relocation sticky and then tell us a bit more about what you need in a home because depending on what y'all need we can steer you in a pretty good direction.

Go up Fredericksburg road near I10/410 until you see KENS 5. Drive into that neighborhood in between KENS and I10. Some nice houses there and it's a very nice neighborhood. It's not the biggest neighborhood since some of the houses sit on multi-acre tracts, but there are some for sale thanks to the economy. Most are probably priced out of that range though, but with the recession you might be able to score a deal.
