Thanks for the update. I noticed the electronic sign, and the date, 9/27/2010, but didn't read anything else on it.

Yes, construction has started on this project:

DeZavala, Phase I (Babcock to Cogburn)
Reconstruct and widen DeZavala Road from two to five lanes, along with the construction of
curbs, sidewalks, driveway approaches, and necessary drainage and traffic signal
improvements.

It is scheduled to be completed in mid 2012.

Do you have any photos of what it is going to look like after or what the mess is going to look like during construction? I wasn't able to find anything.

No, I sure don't, but based on the description, it should essentially look the same as Babcock does south and west of DeZavala.

If anyone goes through the area today, let me know what it looks like. Backed up, bumper-to-bumper, etc. I am concerned for afternoon commute. ugh.

Some think it's an HEB Plus. I doubt it.

It is being built across from the HEB on babcock....the pile of fill on the curve is going to be used for the foundation of new apartments or a strip mall more than likely.
