I have a friend who is considering joining Gold's ( her kids will be in the childcare while she works out.) and just wanted to see if anyone had any advice/feedback to offer.

She's looking at the one on Bandera/1604, specifically.

Thanks in advance!

Drive a block or two to Fitness 19. ONly $9.99 a month. I haven't gone since April (I work out at home), but I didnt' cancel my membership 'cuz it's so cheap, lol. Last time I went, I was the only person there (except for maybe 1-2 people on treadmills).

One thing about Gold's. You can't always use your membership at other Gold's, even in the same city. Bally's is much better for that, especially if you travel. I travel a LOT and have been glad to belong to Bally's for over 20 years. And nothing to worry about bankruptcy. They're going to stay in business for a long time to come, so I've been assured.

That place is a great value for certain people, but they have no childcare and no pool. I think the guy mentioned NO WET AREAS at all--do they even have showers? Can't remember for sure.

Yes, this one has a child's area. I'm not sure about showers....I dont' think so.
No pool...but that's where you save money.

Ooh, they got lockers though

I could have sworn the guy told me no childcare when I called....but then I don't know why I would have even asked about it.

Yay....lockers.

The Fitness19 on Braun and 1604 definitely has childcare. No showers but they have dressing rooms and lockers. It's no frills but they have good new equipment and a large weight area. It's a great deal if you just want to get in, get your workout done and go.

Good gym for the price, but the place is dirtier than most gyms. Has this musty smell to it, locker rooms are pretty gross too. It has all the weighlifting equipment I need and that is all I care about.

I pay $32 per mo with nothing down.

Do they (Gold's or Fitness 19) have referral programs?
