Just on the off chance that someone here is lurking, would like to go, and didn't know about it....

Home (http://pridefestsatx.com/default.aspx - broken link)

I probably won't go... no money for that really and it's hot. They're supposed to have kid friendly things too, but again, it's HOT and if we went the kids will want this or that and it's cheaper to stay home.

I don't know why they do this in June. But anyway, FYI!

Well as much as i'd like people to have an open mind to me this is just over the top! We went last year ( i had to get really drunk) and it is well not a kid friendly event. Their are people walking around in leather bondage outfits and thongs. They sell diaper cakes. It was very uncomfortable. To top it their was a thunder storm toward the end and the MC says "see if god was accepting of us would he give us this amazing fireworks show" that was when I left. (as the band were about to play)
Moderator cut: off topic

I would like to ask that everyone keep their responses closely tied to the topic at hand which is 'any one interested in this event, here is some info' and refrain from wandering off into "off topic banter" that sometimes befalls threads in this forum. Thank you

Ryneone, I'm not sure that you noticed, but it looks like you just implied that there is something inherently wrong with the "difference" that those gay people are flaunting. It doesn't seem as though being different, and acting accordingly, are deserving of discrimination. Moderator cut: personal attacks are not allowed in these forums

Svg210, You don't want to discriminate, but don't want to expose your kids to gay people? Are they harmful to children or something? Sheesh...

It sounds like she just implied it was not a kid friendly event. If you want to expose you kids leather and thong clad folks, go ahead. But I think the vast majority would rather not take their kids to such an event.

Hello calm yourself. It is not about being gay merely having to explain to your daughter the man wearing leather and having a chain thong.

On top of than who cares if it is about being gay. Anyway I was simply trying to warn a parent as to what they might see. sheeesh.

I agree. Pridefest may have some family-friendly events, but "bears" running around in leather thongs are not for kiddies' innocent eyes.

I went to Pridefest today and it wasn't that bad. There were actually some young kids around. I didn't see anything of what ya'll are referring to. But I did go in the afternoon, not evening.

I have been to Pridefest in SA in years. I'm wondering if it's changed much. I do know that there was no parade back then.
