Sorry, but that is a very uninformed position. A very large portion of credit card transactions are run over the internet every day, almost all of them safely. The issue with Aldaco's appears to be that they stored a copy of the credit card number in a database where someone could swipe them all. Whether you authorize cards over a phone line, the internet or messenger pigeon, if you make a copy of them they can be stolen.

Using the internet to authorize credit cards is a significant improvement over the previous (and still commonplace) method of authorizing transactions over a regular phone line with a modem. The internet authorizations use end-to-end encryption which makes it nearly impossible to steal the card number while in transit. The traditional, "phone" based authorizations can be tapped with relative ease.

You are more likely to be ripped off by the waiter you hand your card to or by the bus boy who hooked a skimmer up to the card reader, than by having your credit card authorized over the internet. Not to mention, having your credit card stolen is very easy to deal with, and is not nearly as scary as is made out by the media.

Wrong. Poor security measures that were EASILY hacked by professionals (from Russia no less).

Wrong. More secure method than the internet as evidenced by the hacker successfully getting into the database.

We tried the new Brisket tacos at Cabana today. The meat was good, but tasted like it had been sitting in brine before it was served. So I give it a BIG thumbs down.

Went to Citrus at the Valencia Hotel to celebrate our anniversary. What a great night! We sat on the patio, and were the only people there for most of the night. It felt like our private patio and was very romantic. The food was fabulous, as was the wine and the service. We shared the incredible crab cake and a fried green tomato salad. For our entrees, my husband had the filet, and I had the pork tenderloin. They were delicious and cooked perfectly. For dessert we split the cinnamon croissant bread pudding. Our server, Michael, was knowledgeable and really friendly. It was a great way to celebrate our anniversary!
