The Monty again- Shrimp with Grits was the best version I have ever had of this dish anywhere. The shrimp stock added amazing depth to the dish. Their grits are out of this world. Only letdown was the price of $18 for lunch.

DW had the bbq salmon and play on an everything bagel. it was okay, but not remotely as special as the shrimp and grits.

A starter of fries for the table were great as ever. A new twist was a dipping emulsion of bacon fat and maple syrup. Nice.

Stopped at Bill Miller's at Nacogdoches/410 earlier today to pick up a to-go order, and noticed the whole place is now wall-to-wall carpeted! Looks like some kind of olefin stuff, not exactly plush, but I wonder if this is an isolated case, or if they are doing all locations this way? Never saw a Bill Miller's with carpet before. Wonder how well it's going to hold up?

East Buffet off Bandera. Had to laugh at the sign in the door saying a mongolian BBQ cook is needed... written entirely in Spanish. Nothing like San Antonio authenticity.

Overall the place isn't impressing me too much. It was the second time I went, I can't see going again. Panda Buffet on 410 is better.

Actually, the Bill Millers' that I have been to (Thousand Oaks, Bitters/281, 281/1604 all have carpet, the large carpet tile variety.

We spent the weekend in SA and ate at The Big Bib on Austin Hwy yesterday evening. Delicious bbq and super cool owners/staff. The turkey was so moist and had a wonderful flavor, and the pulled pork was not the least bit greasy. While you're standing there deciding what to order, they will start cutting off slices of meat for you to sample. It's really tiny in there but man, that bbq is wonderful. Don't leave without some peach cobbler........homemade and delicious.

Where do you live now?

The last restaurant I ate at was Pho Cong Ly on Bitters. Pho Ga was great as usual. Avoid their Chinese food though.

My 1st experience at In-N-Out burger was in Tuscon a couple of months ago...off of IH10 across from the Pines Golf Club. Not bad!

Aldinos at the Vineayrd- amazing PEI mussels. Carpaccio lacked flavor.

On to BIN 555 - Buffalo Buratta was excellent. Pizza could have had more braised beef.

Then to Max's wine dive to finish - cheese plate with added meats and pate was the perfect way to end the night with some Schramsberg Blanc de Blanc and Surh Luctel Pinot with the bread pudding.

Not a bad Tuesday night.
